The Perch Longitudinal report allows you to visualise and explore your athlete's progression over time. The report consists of two main components: The Longitudinal Graph and the Longitudinal Table. The Longitudinal Graph allows you to quickly see trends and outliers in your athlete's progression over time and easily compare athletes side by side. The Longitudinal table allows you to take a deeper dive into the numbers.
Filters
Best Set By Filter
The Best Set By filter is an advanced tool which allows you to filter only to display the best set of the metric selected in the filter. This can be found at the top right of the Table and Graph and in the filter options.
Display Metric Filter
The Display Metric Filter allows you to specify what metric you would like to see from the data. Even if a different metric is selected in the Best Set By filter the selected Display Metric will still be shown.
- For example, if Display Metric = Mean Velocity, Best Set By = Weight. The data shown will be the mean velocity of the best Weight for the time view selected.
Time View Filter
The Time View filter allows you to change the size of the time groupings. You have the option of Day, Week, Month, Year.
Below is an example of how changing the Time View Filter can change how the data is displayed.
Best Rep/Set Avg Filter
This filter can be found in the Filter options and allows you to switch between the Best Rep metric and Set Avg metric in your data. By default, Best Rep will be selected.
Intensity Filter
The Intensity Filter can be found in the filter options and allows you to filter the data shown in the by chosen intensities. You have the option to filter intensity by % of 1RM lifted (%) or by weight lifted (lbs/kg).
- Filter by a range (min-max)
- Filter by a minimum (>min)
- Filter by a maximum (<max)
Filter Examples
Filter example 1
- Best Set By: Mean Velocity (m/s)
- Display Metric: Peak Power (w)
- Time View: Week View
- Best rep
Each bar/column will display the Peak Power (w) of the rep with the highest Mean Velocity (m/s) across a 7 days period.
Filter example 2
- Best Set By: Not selected
- Display Metric: Mean Power (w)
- Time View Month
- Set Avg
Each bar/column will display the average Mean Power (w) of all sets across a calendar month period.
Longitudinal Graph
Each bar represents the average value of the selected Display Metric for that exercise over the chosen time view.
When a Best Set By metric is selected, the bars will represent the Best set rather than an average of the display metric. The graph shows data for a single exercise, which can be selected in the Exercise Filter in the top left of the report.
You can adjust the date range (e.g. 7 days, 30 days, etc.) to view how the selected metric changes over time, helping you identify trends, progress, or variations in performance.
Tips:
- Use the Team, Position and User filters to get closer comparisons between similar athletes
- Deselect/select date ranges from the legend to exclude/include them from the graph
- Use the graph title to clarify if an Average or Best Set is being used
Longitudinal Table
Similar to the Longitudinal Graph, the Longitudinal Table shows your athlete's progression over time in table form to allow you to dive deeper into specific sets and athlete comparison. Each row represents an individual athlete and each column represents the Time View range.
When a 'Best Set By' Metric is set, the table will show some additional information:
- PB across the time range column
- Last set column
- %1RM
- Vs PB (% difference between PB and Last set)
